This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Monday, December 21st 2020 at approximately 4:21 pm. The driver of white Mercury (1998) other improper action. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Driver of Unit 2 stated she was westbound on W. Broad St immediately west of Binns Blvd in the left lane and Unit 2 was approaching her while eastbound on W. Broad St in his left lane (closest to the centerline). Driver of Unit 2 further stated that Unit 1 veered across the double yellow centerline and into her lane before striking her vehicle head on. Unit 2 traveled off the road to the right (north side of W. Broad St) after the collision. Driver of Unit 1 was unresponsive at the scene and transported to Grant Hospital by Columbus Fire Medic 17. Driver of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased by Dr Kirch. Driver of Unit 2 was transported to Grant Hospital by Franklin Township Medic 192 and treated by Dr. Kirch for back and neck pain. The Witness stated he was driving eastbound on W. Broad St directly behind Unit 1 and observed the accident. The Witness stated Unit 1 was all over the road and made a 911 call to state the same. The Witness stated he observed Unit 1 veer into the westbound traffic lanes and strike Unit 2. The scene was secured and AIU detectives responded to assume the investigation. Both units were impounded to the Columbus Police Impound Lot.
