Unit #1 was traveling south in the left lane on Cleveland Ave north of Republic Ave. Unit #2; motorcycle; was traveling north on Cleveland Ave north of Republic Ave. The driver of Unit #2 stated she began to turn left (east) into the private drive for the business located at 2372 Cleveland Ave and struck the northbound Unit #2. The collision caused the rider of Unit #2 to be ejected from the motorcycle. Listed witnesses confirmed the above. The rider of Unit #2 was transported to Grant Hospital in critical condition by CFD Medic 18 where he was treated by Dr. Patel for an aortic injury. The rider of Unit #2 was pronounced deceased at 5:21pm. The driver of Unit #1 was treated at scene by CFD Medic 13 for a knee injury. No other injuries reported at scene. CPD Accident Investigation Unit responded to scene. No fault was determined at scene pending further investigation. Units #1 and #2 were impounded to the CPD Impound Lot for evidence by Eitel's Towing. No other tows required.
