This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Friday, May 21st 2021 at approximately 6:10 pm. The driver of red Honda (2020) left of center. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit #2 stated he was going west bound on E. Hudson Street in the turn lane attempting to turn left on Cleveland Avenue. Unit #2 stated he saw Unit #1 traveling east bound on E.Hudson Street; Unit #2 stated Unit #1 lost his hat and looked back to see where it went; causing Unit #1 to strike Unit #2. Unit #2 stated Unit #1 struck his vehicle causing Unit #1 to eject from the vehicle into the roadway. The crash was caught on Columbus Police Crime Cameras. Officers observed Unit #1 traveling west bound on E. Hudson Street crossing Cleveland Avenue. Unit #1 crossed left of center and struck Unit #2; causing Unit #1 to eject into the roadway. Unit #1 driver was transported by Columbus Fire Medic 18 to Ohio State Main Hospital in critical life threatening condition. Accident Investigations detectives responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. Unit #2 was cited for driving without an operators license. Unit #1 was unable to be identified due to being in surgery and family not being cooperative.
